Crosstown LRT progress – How to move an escalator underground
The latest Eglinton Crosstown LRT progress photos.
Dec 2, 2020
Construction crews toiling at the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) stop at Caledonia have been up to something.
New images from the project capture the tough task of workers as they recently pulled escalators to the upper concourse using chains. It was painstaking and precise and perfectly aligned.
It’s tough enough to move a heavy coach from one side of a room to another, let alone an entire escalator underground.
As well, hard work continues at the west end of the Crosstown line, with a new photo that shows crews installing snow melting tubing which will heat up the platforms from below in the winter.
And at Laird, teams have completed a large concrete pour, bringing them one step closer to finishing the street level of the future station.
So everyone is, yes, rising to the challenge of getting the mammoth Toronto route up and running.
