Building communities thanks to Habitat for Humanity

Metrolinx team invests sweat equity to help a worthy cause.

May 8, 2019

Metrolinx is used to watching over major construction projects and advances to mass transit across the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.

But on May 7, a team of women from Metrolinx put their work boots and hard hats on to help build something closer to home.

The volunteers participated in Habitat for Humanity’s 10th Annual Women’s Build.

Habitat for Humanity helps build safe, decent and affordable housing for families in need across the region. Affordable home ownership bridges a gap for low-income working families by providing them with the opportunity to purchase their own Habitat home and build a better life.

The Women Build is about empowerment, solidarity and pride in our city. The women of Team Metrolinx helped build the last 20 of 49 homes at the Pinery Trail build site in Scarborough.

From building wall and door frames, to hauling wood and using power tools, the Metrolinx members put their muscles to good use.

The team also raised thousands of dollars towards the cause.
