Lakeshore East Line construction continues to help build capacity as ridership grows.

With quieter, faster and more efficient GO Train service, customers can easily plan their transit connections knowing the next one is on its way.

Crews are building retaining walls and expanding bridges to make room for a fourth track and overhead line electrification that will improve GO Train speed and reliability.

Bridge widening

At Danforth and Warden bridges, work is progressing to widen the structures to the north, to accommodate a future fourth track, which will allow an increase in train service in both directions.

The next step is to start piling to build bridge abutments on either side of the roads. First, drilled piling creates a hole in the ground, then crews insert H-pile steel into the hole and push it into the ground using a method similar to hammering. These abutments with the pier structure in the middle of the road will support the steel beam girders and the bridge deck on top.

The corridor will be accessed from the main roads shown on the map and residents can expect minimal traffic impacts. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Residents and businesses near the construction may experience noise and vibration. Crews will work promptly to complete the work as Metrolinx understands  construction can be disruptive to surrounding areas.
