For university and college students, Reading Week is the perfect opportunity to take a break from the regular academic routine and recharge. We’ve got you covered with some transit-accessible activities to take advantage of when you need a break from the books.
Try downhill and cross-country skiing
For the winter-sports enthusiast, reading week can be a great time to get outdoors and hit the slopes.
Glen Eden offers downhill skiing trails for all skill levels from easy (green circle) to difficult (black diamond). This ski resort is located at 5234 Kelso Rd., Milton, and is open daily, in the winter, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Lift tickets can be purchased ahead of time and equipment rentals are available for purchase on site.
Looking to go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing instead? Be sure to check out some of these of these notable parks around the GHTA:
- Toronto's High Park is located at 1873 Bloor St. W. and offers some of the most scenic trails in the city. Be sure to bring your snowshoes and check out the park’s various loops and trails that are open year-round.
- Bronte Creek Provincial Park, located at 1219 Burloak Dr., Oakville, offers plenty of winter fun with approximately 10 kilometres of ungroomed trails for cross-country skiing as well as snowshoeing.
- Albion Hills Conservation Park, located at,16500 Regional Rd. 50, Caledon, has great cross-country skiing trails and offers rental equipment on site. Trail passes can be purchased online or at the front registration building.
