The Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project has recently made several advances – both on the underground and above ground sections of the line.

Out of the total 19 km that the Crosstown spans, 10 km is underground, which mainly comprises the stations between Keele Street and Laird Drive. The east end of the line, which is primarily above ground, is currently wrapping up the paving process.

From Rosemont Road to west of Kennedy Road, crews have completed the final surface paving, marking an important step forward for the project.

This is also great news for drivers and cyclists in the area.

Also, the underground section of the line has made recent progress.

Mount Pleasant Station

For Mount Pleasant Station, crews have been working on restoring the exterior elements of the building, which will have a classic, older look.

At this part of the station, the team has installed most of the limestone and bricks on the lower half of the building. The next steps for Mount Pleasant station include reinstating the Imperial Bank exterior – a task that will continue over the next few months.

Forest Hill Station

Forest Hill Station has also undergone improvements – crews have finished pouring the base into the westbound lanes. Now that this is done, paving is the next step.

Leaside Station

Finally, there are new updates at Leaside Station.

Advancements for this station include the installation of glass guardrails on the stairs connecting the platform and concourse levels.

With each of these improvements, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT is closer to completion.
