Events are starting to take centre stage once again after two years of pandemic restrictions, and that means Honda Indy Toronto is revving up for its return to Exhibition Place.

To move customers in and out of downtown Toronto as efficiently as possible during road closures on parts of Lake Shore Boulevard West, some GO Bus routes will be modified for most of the day on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17.

Diversions may also be required on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15 depending on traffic conditions.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Eastbound GO Bus Route 16 trips will end at Aldershot GO Station to connect customers to Lakeshore West trains. Westbound trips will begin at Aldershot GO Station. 

• Eastbound GO Bus Route 21 and 31 trips will end at Port Credit GO Station to connect customers to Lakeshore West trains. Westbound trips will begin at Port Credit GO Station.

Race car enthusiasts and families can save on Indy admission and GO combo passes when bought in advance online – and considering the Indy takes place just steps away from Exhibition GO Station, taking GO Transit is a convenient way to get to the action.

Adult GO/Indy combination round trip tickets for Saturday or Sunday cost $55 to $65, and adult GO/Indy combination tickets for two days (Saturday and Sunday) costs $90.

Young racing fans can also get on board: kids 12 and under ride GO Transit for free and will also receive free general admission to the Indy with an event-ticketed adult. Tickets can be purchased here.

For those who haven’t travelled with GO recently, here are some things to keep in mind before heading out the door:

• Customers using their PRESTO card this weekend, make sure you tap on and off each bus and train during your trip  
• Customers using a weekend e-ticket – make sure to activate them before getting on board
• Avoid any last-minute surprises by checking the latest schedules and planning ahead of time
• Hand sanitizing dispensers are available at every station, on all trains and 400+ buses
• Masks are optional but welcome on GO Transit. Customers are encouraged to respect their fellow riders’ personal choices
• Be sure to avoid public transit if you’re feeling unwell
