The details of every metre of rail put perfectly in place are important.
And so is the larger picture of how all those many small parts and decisions fit together to form a future transit route.
As Crosslinx Transit Solutions, the builders working on the Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) system for Metrolinx, progress with their work – even under humid Toronto conditions – we thought we’d showcase two images that show crews working on a small section as well as a larger zone.
They help to tell the story that such a large undertaking – building Toronto’s next great public transit line – is really an orchestra of smaller moving parts.
The first image shows track-work teams making progress with installation of the surface sections.

In the second photo, we step back to see how big Crosstown can get, even above ground. In this case, this is a view of the Brentcliffe Portal’s mouth, the transition point between the Crosstown’s tunneled and surface section.

It’s complicated enough to imagine getting one part perfect enough to guide an LRT across a metre of track. Now put together too many of those details to count, into one remarkable line.
