There are two seasons in Canada – winter and construction season.

It’s an age-old saying but rings true every year as warm weather moves in.

This weekend, a City of Toronto led closure of the Gardiner Expressway will mean GO buses heading into Union Station won’t be able to take their usual route into the core. There will be detours in place and that means trips will take longer than usual.

If possible, Metrolinx advises customers to make their way onto a GO train instead as rail service won’t be affected by the road work. Keeping in mind the Barrie and Stouffville lines are replaced by buses this weekend – however the Lakeshore East and West GO trains are running hourly.

What routes are affected?

Route 21

• Eastbound: For delays more than 45 minutes, buses may take passengers to Port Credit GO to connect with a Lakeshore West GO train.
• Westbound: For delays more than 45 minutes, passengers may take the train to Port Credit with bus connections to points further west.

Route 31

• Eastbound: For delays more than 45 minutes eastbound buses may travel to the Hwy 407 terminal where passengers may show their GO fares at TTC staffed entrances for the subway to downtown.
• Westbound: For delays more than 45 minutes passengers at Union may show their GO fares at the TTC entrance for subway travel to the Hwy 407 terminal to connect with buses westbound.

Routes 63, 65 and 71

GO Buses may take alternate routes into and out of the Union Station Bus Terminal which could lead to traffic delays.

The transit agency is recommending customers check the GO Transit website before heading out the door.
