Train on the Lakeshore West Line

Lakeshore West Line GO Expansion

Confederation GO Station

One stop closer to a more connected Hamilton.

We’re building Confederation GO Station – a brand-new GO station on the Lakeshore West line in Hamilton – to get you where you need to go, better, faster and easier.

Building better connections to and from Hamilton is a top priority for Metrolinx. This new station is part of the GO Expansion program, which is improving access to all of our stations, benefitting both our customers and neighbouring communities. Across the entire network, our goal is to deliver over 10,000 train trips a week – so you won’t need a schedule because you know the next train will be coming soon.

Project overview

Confederation GO Station will bring us one step closer to a more connected Greater Toronto and Hamilton Region, and will support more weekday rush-hour service, giving everyone new options to move.

The station will be located near the intersection of the QEW and Centennial Parkway North in Hamilton. Confederation GO has been designed to give customers easy and convenient ways to get on the GO, whether it's reloading their PRESTO card or buying tickets at the station.

The site of Confederation GO has already been serving customers using GO Bus Route 12 since 2019. This route connects Confederation GO with Burlington GO Station and Dundas Street & Highway 407 park and ride lot to the west, and Grimsby, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls to the east.

Features of Confederation GO Station include:

  • A fully accessible island platform, complete with mini-platform and canopies to protect customers from the weather while they wait for their train
  • A pedestrian tunnel and vestibule to make it easier for customers to get to their platform
  • Enhanced access, no matter how riders are getting to and from the station, thanks to a pick-up and drop-off zone with space for 15 vehicles, parking and direct pedestrian stair access from the platform to Centennial Parkway.
