People have questions and Metrolinx has answers.

This summer, Peel residents can find the Metrolinx community engagement team out at various events and libraries to talk about the Hazel McCallion light rail transit (LRT) line – previously known as the Hurontario LRT.

The team will be at more than 20 events across Peel Region this summer, handing out paper trains, pens and talking transit.

You can find them at community centers, GO stations and even local movie nights.

They recently went to Port Credit GO Station to share information, answer questions and hear people’s comments. One passerby had this to say: “The Hurontario LRT construction is like going to the dentist –  you don’t enjoy sitting in the chair while they’re doing work in your mouth, but after it’s done, you realize it’s for the better.”

• Cooksville GO, Tuesday, June 21, from 4-6 p.m.
• Celebration Square Movie Night, Thursday, June 23, from 6:30-8 p.m.
• Mississauga Valley Library, Tuesday, June 28, from 3-5 p.m.
• Dixie GO, Wednesday, June 29, from 8-10 a.m.
• Chinguacousy Park, Friday, July 1, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Brampton GO, Tuesday, July 12, from 4—6 p.m.
• Frank McKechnie Community Centre, Tuesday, July 19, from 3-5 p.m.

In addition to attending local events, Metrolinx staff will be out in the community talking to people, too. Canvassers will be out along the LRT route in July, talking to residents, businesses and transit commuters about the project.

As well, Metrolinx community offices are available for public visits at 3024 Hurontario Street, Unit G12 in Mississauga and 17 Ray Lawson Boulevard, Unit 9 in Brampton.
