Eglington Crosstown’s light rail transit (LRT) project has just seen another solid milestone at Oakwood Station – the final concrete pour inside the mighty cavern.

The event marks a significant point of progress for the underground stop, located at Eglinton Avenue and Oakwood Avenue. Those watching this site being built, may recall that the small station footprint didn’t allow space for a standard tower crane during construction. The location was the first in Canada to use an overhead gantry crane system, which worked overhead using a custom-built frame.

It was one of the methods that have brought crews to this important point in the life of the station.

Recent images from Crosstown also show, at Mount Dennis Station, crews are installing glass in the shelters at the center GO platform. That railway corridor also serves GO Transit and UP Express.

And at Caledonia Station, teams have completed the installation of the poles which will support the overhead cables powering the light rail vehicles.

So good advances – below and overhead.
