Along Hurontario Street, progress continues on the Hazel McCallion Line in Brampton and Mississauga.
One of the next steps is the construction of the LRT stops themselves, the first of which will be built in the centre of Hurontario Street, north of Matheson Boulevard.
Stages of Construction
The platform at the Matheson stop is currently under construction with installation of the canopy expected be completed early this year.
Canopies protect commuters from the elements and provide nighttime lighting to increase safety and visibility. Other elements of the stop will include ticketing machines and area route maps.
Roadwork along Hurontario Street at Matheson Boulevard is nearing completion, with track installation having already taken place.
The next steps for roadwork include installing final asphalt layers and line painting, as well as sidewalk construction and landscaping.
Platform construction at the stop is one of the final stages of the work at the intersection.
Design Renderings
The images throughout this story are initial pre-construction renderings developed by Mobilinx, the construction team building the Hazel McCallion Line project.
What’s Next?
The next stops will include the locations at Courtneypark Drive and Derry Road.
There will be 19 stops and stations along the route starting at Brampton Gateway Terminal in the north, heading south to Port Credit GO Station.
