Progress continues on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project.

The 19km route will make commutes up to 60 per cent faster than before.

With 25 stations and stops, the Crosstown LRT will connect to 54 bus routes, three TTC subway stations, and GO Train lines as well.

Oakwood Station progress

Oakwood is an underground station on the western side of the project’s route at Oakwood Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West.

The station is unique because it’s the only station located directly at a T-intersection, making it visible to people traveling northbound on Oakwood Avenue.

The Main Entrance of Oakwood Station features a window art display created by Ontario artist Nicholas Pye.

The art display, titled Assembly with Colour, Rhythm and Form.

According to the artist, it not only recalls points of intersection on a transit map, but also speaks to the diverse and rich cultural mosaic that defines the character of Oakwood Village.

Oakwood Station facts

• The station has two entrances. One at the northern end of Oakwood Avenue, with the second on the south side of Eglinton Avenue
• The station is one of only three mined stations on the line and was the first site in Canada to use an overhead ‘gantry’ crane which operated directly over the site on a custom-built frame, due to its small neighborhood footprint
• The station will also feature 24 outdoor bicycle parking spots
