Making tracks in and around Finch West LRT maintenance facility

The latest images from Toronto’s Finch West LRT progress show rail-work at the maintenance facility.

Lines are being drawn at the main vehicle hub for the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

When completed, the maintenance and storage facility – often just called the MSF – will be the place where the light rail vehicles are serviced, repaired and inspected.

Recent images from the project show lots of rail work is already being done inside and outside the MSF.

Leading in, that also includes important elements that go along with the tracks, such as guideway, poles and cable additions.

And inside, you can see embedded tracks finding their home.

Here are some other facts around the MSF shop:

Located at 50 York Gate Boulevard, on the north west side of Finch Avenue West, west of Jane Street

A 10,000 sq. metre facility with capacity for 26 LRVs

Includes a main shop, car wash facility, material storage building, administration office and 122 parking spots

Tracks running in both directions for LRV access (eastbound and westbound)

Being designed and constructed to meet LEED Silver Certification and will have a green roof

While most passengers on the Toronto route won’t actually ever spend time at the MSF, the work done there – as well as the construction now ongoing to construct it – will be vital to the light rail transit line.
