GO trains are heading back to Niagara in time for the better weather months.

The popular weekend GO Transit train service to Niagara Falls returns, starting June 26. Tickets include both GO train fare and the convenient WEGO hop-on, hop-off bus, which reaches Niagara Parks’ Table Rock Centre as well as hotels and other Niagara Falls attractions.

“Niagara Parks offers some of the most spectacular natural attractions in the world and we look forward to continuing our partnership with GO Transit to once again provide an efficient transportation option for Ontarians to visit us this summer,” said Niagara Parks CEO David Adames.

Four trains will leave Toronto’s Union Station for Niagara each Saturday, Sunday and holiday this summer. Counting the return trips, that’s eight trains per day.

This transit combination offers more value. WEGO provides a great way to explore the beauty of both the Niagara River and the Falls, as well as downtown attractions, at your own pace.

“The inclusion of WEGO bus service in this ticket package connects our guests to our iconic Table Rock Centre, providing access to Niagara Parks sites and attractions as soon as they arrive in Niagara Falls. It makes for a smooth and enjoyable visitor experience and that is something we are very pleased to offer to our guests,” said Adames.

Tickets for adults travelling from Toronto’s Union Station are only $25.

As always, children accompanied by an adult ride for free on the GO train. Families can buy WEGO children’s tickets separately or save with a discounted group package.

Two adults and three children (or one adult and four kids) can travel together on both GO and WEGO for only $62.20.

Niagara Region Transit buses going to Table Rock and the Niagara Falls city centre will be included in the package for a few weekends before WEGO officially opens for the season on July 23.

After departing Union Station, Niagara-bound trains will also stop at Exhibition, Port Credit, Oakville, Burlington, Aldershot and St. Catharines.

Niagara residents can take advantage of the return train to visit Toronto and enjoy time in the city without driving and parking in the downtown core.

Cyclists will find space for bicycles on both GO trains and WEGO buses.

Starting July 30, visitors can take in a new one-of-a-kind landmark, adjacent to the Falls – the Niagara Parks Power Station. This historic structure, a massive hydroelectric plant that was built in 1905, has been transformed into an attraction with interactive exhibits and installations that explore the history and science of hydroelectric power. On September 3, a multimedia experience, “Currents: Niagara’s Power Transformed,” will debut, bringing the old station to life at night with state-of-the-art sound and 3D projection.

Safety Never Stops

And no story of GO Transit would be complete without a pause to write about safety. As more customers return to transit, the transit agency wants to reassure riders their health and safety remains a top priority. Since the pandemic began, Metrolinx has implemented more than 40 permanent safety actions to keep transit safe. That includes mandatory masks, clear plastic barriers between seats on trains and buses, and hand sanitizer dispensers on vehicles and in stations.
