The tour of Agincourt GO’s new station building starts right here.

The new building offers increased seating, five new digital displays, a spacious and well-lit waiting area with phone charging stations and a wood paneled ceiling.

Window design maximizes incoming daylight with acid etching treatment used to create a translucent glass and glare-free light into the waiting and passenger service area.

Although construction of the new station building is complete, work at the station will continue within the rail corridor, on the platforms and within the parking lot area.

Work at Agincourt GO Station is part of Metrolinx’s plan to expand transit for two-way, all-day electrified service on the Stouffville line.

Here are some of the project benefits:

• New station building designed to achieve LEED certification
• A new passenger pick-up and drop-off area (Kiss & Ride)
• New second track and platform
• A renovated existing platform
• Two new pedestrian tunnels with elevators
• Canopies and integrated shelters on the platforms to protect customers from outdoor elements
• Improved connection to Sheppard Avenue at the south end of the platforms
• Additional landscaping

The station building is fully accessible with ramps, railings, automatic door openers and accessible washroom facilities. The universal washroom includes an infant and adult changing table. A new water- efficient drinking fountain and hands-free bottle refilling station will also be available for customers.

LEED Building Certification

The station building was designed to achieve a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification. LEED is a green building certification program used worldwide and Gold is the second highest of four certification levels.

Construction and waste management systems have aimed for at least a 75 per cent overall waste diversion. All materials are recovered, reused, and recycled where possible and environmentally friendly and sustainable products and materials used whenever possible.

Architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems and equipment have been designed to optimize energy efficiency.

Agincourt GO upgrades support delivery of GO Expansion, which will transform the GO Transit rail network, supporting more frequent, all-day, two-way service on core segments of the network.

Under GO Expansion, future service on the Stouffville line includes two-way, all-day service between Mount Joy and Union Station, and 15 minute service or better between Unionville GO Station and Union Station.

Expansion on the Stouffville line includes connecting customers to the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line (LRT) from Kennedy Station. The LRT route is nearing completion and will operate as TTC’s Line 5 Eglinton. Kennedy Station will grow into a transit hub, offering more travel options with a future connection to the Scarborough Subway Extension, bringing riders north of Highway 401 and Sheppard.

These additional services, and GO Expansion as a whole, are critical in transforming the GO rail network into a comprehensive, all day rapid transit network.
