Service changes coming to GO Bus schedules

September brings service adjustments & additions.

Sep 1, 2022

This month, look out for some service changes on GO Transit.

Service is being added on several GO Bus routes, with a number of adjustments to others.

There are also some planned weekday adjustments on the Lakeshore West GO Line for important construction work.

All weekday changes will start on Sept. 6. While most weekend changes begin on Sept. 3, other schedules change on Sept. 10 or later.

Metrolinx News is here to highlight the most noteworthy updates – but be sure to always check schedules in advance and plan ahead.

What’s changing?

For GO Bus customers, Metrolinx is increasing bus frequency and adding seasonal service for post-secondary students, among other schedule changes.

On Routes 19 and 32, additional trips during the mornings and afternoons will provide 15-minute service during the busiest parts of the day.

Routes 21, 27, 31, and 41 will also see more service. For post-secondary students, a number of seasonal routes return, including more service to Waterloo, McMaster University and York Region.

With fall approaching, seasonal summer services will end, including trips to Canada’s Wonderland, St. Jacobs Market, Toronto Premium Outlets and Niagara Falls.

As for rail, the Lakeshore West Line will see some weekday evening service adjusted to make room for construction on the Hurontario light rail transit (LRT) project.

What does the LRT have to do with GO service?

This phase of construction on the LRT project includes installing an underpass under the Lakeshore West GO tracks at Port Credit GO Station, requiring the closure of at least two tracks to safely carry out the work.

Because of this, as of Sept. 6, Lakeshore West service will run hourly on weekday evenings, schedules will be adjusted, and some trips to and from West Harbour GO will be changed to start and end from Aldershot GO. GO Buses will provide service between West Harbour and Aldershot GO, and some other bus schedules will be adjusted to align with train times.

But that’s not all – check the GO Transit website for specific trip info.

For those who haven’t ridden transit in a while

  • Customers can now pay their adult fare by tapping a PRESTO device with a credit card, including cards on a phone or watch
  • It’s now easier to travel to and from GO Transit with free co-fare on most local transit
