The addition of this off-peak bus service means there is now all-day all-week service between Toronto and Hamilton without the need to transfer. These trips will start May 1.

On the other hand, certain GO bus routes will see some weekday trips reduced, due to low demand. These are the routes affected:

• Route 15A (McMaster/Aldershot)
• Route 19 (Mississauga/North York)
• Route 21 (Milton/Toronto)
• Route 27 (Milton/North York)
• Route 29 (Guelph/Mississauga)
• Route 32 (Brampton Trinity Common/North York)
• Route 40 (Hamilton/Richmond Hill)
• Route 67 (Keswick/North York)

Metrolinx is constantly monitoring ridership and will adjust service levels, if necessary.

Finally, Metrolinx is adjusting departure and arrival times for some other bus routes to improve schedules. As always, the transit agency recommends checking your schedule beforehand.

Safety Never Stops

Since the pandemic began, Metrolinx has implemented over 40 permanent safety actions which has helped keep case levels within critical frontline transit staff low. That includes mandatory masks, clear plastic barriers between seats, and hand sanitizer dispensers on transit vehicles. As the variants cause an alarming increase in cases across the province, however even more is needed to ensure everyone stays safe until vaccination rates are higher and the pandemic is over.

Additional measures implemented include:

• Frontline staff have been issued medical grade masks
• Over 80 inspections of work sites were completed to ensure staff understand and fully comply with safety policies such as workplace health screening, mandatory medical masks at all times, keeping a safe distance, appropriate disinfection, and taking breaks in outdoor spaces. 
• Safety officers are also conducting on-site training and support at work sites.

• With the widening availability of vaccinations in Ontario, and to encourage our employees to get vaccinated to protect themselves, Metrolinx will provide as much flexibility as possible to accommodate employees who are scheduled to receive the vaccination, once they are eligible for it.
