A 25-year-old man was arrested and is now facing criminal charges, after exposing himself to a customer onboard a GO train.

It happened on a Lakeshore East train heading east bound toward Oshawa at around 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

Staff sergeant Sue Milos says the victim had the fortitude to immediately report the incident to the onboard Customer Service Ambassador. As a result, Transit Safety Officers were able to make a quick arrest.

“We have zero tolerance for this type of behaviour,” said Milos. “Every person travelling with us has the right to feel comfortable and safe at all times.”

She adds that all reports of indecent exposure and sexual harassment on Metrolinx property are taken extremely seriously, and her teams work with police on pressing criminal charges whenever it’s appropriate.

“We know it takes courage speaking up after being a victim or witnessing this type of disturbing incident,” Milos said. “However, I want our customers to know we’re here to help keep them safe – and reporting is the only way our officers can stop and hold these individuals accountable for their actions.”

If someone is ever making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe onboard a GO train or bus, you’re encouraged to do one of the following:

  • Call Transit Safety Dispatch, 24-hours a day: 1-877-297-0642
  • Immediately report the incident to the Customer Service Ambassador or bus driver
  • Press the yellow emergency strip located above the windows
  • If you feel you’re in immediate danger, dial 9-1-1

Toronto Police have charged a 25-year-old man with an indecent act under the Criminal Code. He’s scheduled to appear in court later this month.
