Weekend Lakeshore West GO Train schedule changes
Buses will run instead of trains due to construction work, get all the details.
Nov 4, 2020
Some people work for the weekend, others work on the weekend.
That’s the case for construction crews carrying out important track work on the Lakeshore West GO corridor this coming weekend (Nov 27-29).
Starting at 7pm on Friday November 27, there will be no GO Train service between Long Branch GO and Union Station. Instead, GO Buses will be running between Port Credit GO Station and the Union Station Bus Terminal.
That means if you normally take the GO Train from Long Branch GO, Mimico GO, or Exhibition GO – you will either need to get to Port Credit GO to catch a GO bus or use the TTC to complete your journey.
These changes will also affect departure times, and GO Transit recommends customers check their schedule ahead of time. Regular Lakeshore West GO Train service will resume in time for Monday morning.
You can get more specific trip information on the GO Transit webpage.
The weekend service changes are required to continue upgrade work on a vital section of track between Long Branch GO and Mimico GO. A major part of the track and signalling system in the area is being replaced over the course of several months.
Just this past weekend, construction crews made some important progress on the project. The old Canpa signal tower was safely demolished and crews replaced more than 225 metres of track.
When the Canpa switch plant project is completely finished, customers will see improved overall train speeds, service life and reliability of the Lakeshore West GO corridor.
