Major station construction progresses at King-Bathurst, Queen-Spadina, and Moss Park stations.

Sept. 6 – Major construction is progressing at three new downtown stations on the Ontario Line subway route: Queen-Spadina, Moss Park and King-Bathurst stations.

Crews are removing soil and bedrock to a depth of about 40 metres to build the future Ontario Line stations, which will be complete with escalators and elevators that will connect the underground subway to street level.

These new subway connections will greatly improve access to transit for residents and visitors alike, connecting to popular TTC streetcar routes like 504 King, 511 Bathurst and 501 Queen. These stations alone will put nearly 100,000 people within walking distance of a subway station, and are expected to see over 19,000 riders daily during the busiest travel hour.

This construction progress marks a major step towards delivering a 15.6-kilometre, 15-stop rapid transit line that will run from Exhibition Place through the downtown core and all the way up to Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park, where it will link up with the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

A major boost for Toronto transit

Once up and running, the Ontario Line will offer more than 40 connections to other subway, bus, streetcar, light rail transit and regional train services, bringing 227,500 more people within walking distance of transit and reducing daily car trips by 28,000.
