A rare glimpse at how Finch West LRT vehicles are put together
Before they glide smoothly through Toronto, transit vehicles have to get built somewhere.

The Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project continues to make great strides, on and off the Finch Avenue West roadway.
Earlier this month, Alstom, the vehicle supplier for the Finch West LRT line, successfully coupled three of the four train modules for the first Finch West vehicle at their facility in Brampton. The fourth module, creating the first full light rail vehicle, will soon join, as well as the installation of the passenger doors.

The team will continue to be busy in the many months ahead with testing slated to start this October. The vehicle will go through a series of quality control checks, followed by testing and validation before hitting the test track.
The Finch West LRT project will use low-floor light rail vehicles with electric propulsion. The vehicles will achieve speeds of approximately 60km/h and will be able to carry approximately 300 passengers. Alstom will also be supplying the same vehicles for the Hurontario LRT project.
