In any major transit project, there’s the view behind the barriers, as well as the stuff that’s front and centre.

This update of the latest images from the Finch West light rail transit (LRT) line includes both.

At the southeast corner of Keele St. and Finch Ave. West, crews are deep into excavation work for the future home of Finch West Station. It’s a compact area to work in and needs precision to pull off.

Meanwhile, there’s also a lot of pedestrian safety measures being placed locally. That includes at the intersection of Weston Rd. and Finch Ave., to get ready for needed preparatory works and utility relocation in the area. The same health and security efforts are being taken at Islington Ave. and Finch Ave.

Whether helping pedestrians and motorists navigate around construction – the measures you can see – or deep in muddy trenches – work that is usually far from sight – everything on a major transit build revolves around safety.
