Welcome into the circle – or rather cylinder.
Among new images taken during construction of the Eglinton Crosstown’s light rail transit project, is an interesting one from inside Oakwood Station.
It has a different feel than some underground transit stations you may have visited.
The image shows that finishing touches are ongoing at Oakwood. But what jumps out is the unique cylindrical shape – a remnant of the mining excavation method used to dig out the cavern sideways under Eglinton Avenue.

Over at Avenue Station, an important lift happened recently, with crews threading the needle to carefully lower an escalator into the station’s main entrance.
And finally, electrical and communications systems are up and running between Caledonia and Chaplin Stations, with vehicle testing work to begin there later this year.
