You’re reading this, so we’re assuming that you have some interest in what we’re doing at Metrolinx. Take it one step further and join the discussion on the Regional Transportation Plan at metrolinxengage.com. You have until November 30 to have your say.

Earlier this fall, PwC released a report that listed Toronto as one of the top cities to live and work – following only London and Singapore, and overtaking typical list-frontrunners Paris and New York. The report included interviews with leaders of thought and action; among them was Metrolinx President & CEO Bruce McCuaig. Bruce shared insights on how we can further the global conversation on transit improvement and the challenges of threading together a series of metropolitan regions.

We’re getting there.

The Hurontario LRT project has moved into the procurement phase. The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was released, which means we have put out a call for vendors to meet qualifications prior to bidding to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the 20-km LRT in Mississauga.  After the short list of qualified candidates is announced, a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be released to ultimately pare that list down to one – the designated project contractor.

In York region, the finishing touches of a segment of Viva Rapidways were completed to the delight of many residents in and around Newmarket. The Davis Dr. segment opened last year, offering 2.7km of bus rapid transit and 2.3km in mixed traffic. Since then, trees were planted and sidewalks were installed, better integrating this section of Rapidways into the community it serves.
