New how-to guide for popular GO e-tickets
E-tickets are getting more popular with GO riders – here’s a guide on how to get in on the action

More and more GO Transit customers are using e-tickets.
Whether it be the popular $10 one-day or $15 unlimited Weekend Passes, the new Weekday Group Pass, or just buying a one-time regular GO Train or GO Bus fare – people are jumping on board.
Don’t have a PRESTO card and want to skip the lines after a concert, sporting event or trip to the CNE? Want to save money with an unlimited pass? E-tickets are the way to go.
Customers can buy an e-ticket for GO Train or GO Bus trips up to seven days before travelling. And those last-minute folks can also buy them as they hustle to Union Station after that awesome Lady Gaga show at Scotiabank Arena.
As GO e-tickets grow in popularity, here’s a helpful step-by-step guide for customers.
How to use e-tickets
- Skip the line and head to the e-ticket webpage to buy an e-ticket or pass
- At the top of the box, select either the e-tickets tab for a regular one-way or round-trip fare, or the passes tab to get a weekend unlimited or weekday group pass (pictured below)
- Select station of origin and intended destination, and fill in the rest of the required fields
- Customers will then receive the online pass via email
- Using a smartphone, click on the link in the email when ready, and activate the pass about five minutes prior to boarding a GO Train or GO Bus. One-time regular e-tickets are valid for four hours once activated
A couple things to keep in mind – the four hour expiry period does not apply to the weekend passes. Also, e-tickets and passes are only available online – not at stations or by using PRESTO – and are non-refundable.
New validation period for e-tickets
Starting Sept. 6, the validation period for GO Transit e-tickets and passes is changing to seven days.
E-tickets and passes purchased on or before Sept. 5, 2022, will continue to be valid for up to one year from the date of purchase, as long as they’re not activated.
