Usually, we show you progress on the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) project by pointing out what’s been added.
But we’ll start this update by showing you an image of something that’s vanished – and point out why it makes way for a new addition.
At Avenue Station, crews removed the massive gantry crane which was positioned over the secondary entrance. Now that it’s been removed, the above ground structure can begin to be erected.
Science Centre Station is getting finishing work with the installation of sliding glass doors at the bus terminal and the main entrance.
At Mount Pleasant Station, those teams have been able to complete the ground leveling process and have poured the lowermost concrete slab.
And switch heaters are being installed along the future Line 5, such as this heater near the West Portal. The heaters are located everywhere there are switches along the LRT track and will electrically heat the areas surrounding the switches to ensure smooth functionality in all seasons.
