A smart update is now available for your phone.

Starting today, the official version of the PRESTO app is available for download.

Metrolinx initially launched a beta version of the app last December to a limited group of users to get feedback. The results were positive – for Metrolinx and our customers.

After a successful beta period that saw more than 10,000 users trying out the Android version, as well as more than 5,000 testing the iOS version, anyone can now download it through their app store. There are no more limits, and the transit tech is available to everyone.

The PRESTO app gives users the convenience of easily loading funds onto their PRESTO card on the go with debit and credit cards, or through Apple Pay. And for most Android phones with NFC capabilities, the app lets you load funds and passes instantly to your PRESTO card simply by holding it onto the back of your phone, eliminating the wait times customers experience when they load their cards online.

It’s also easy to check your balance, review your trip history, or set up Autoload or Autorenew to make sure you always have enough funds to travel. If Autoload or Autoreview aren’t for you, alerts can be turned on to let you know when your balance drops below a certain amount or when your pass is about to expire.

“We’re thrilled that more than 15,000 customers took the time to test our PRESTO app and give us their feedback,” said PRESTO’s Executive Vice President Annalise Czerny. “Now that it’s officially launched, the PRESTO app is available to all of our customers with mobile devices – making it even easier to load their card and manage their account.”

In addition to the app, there’s also more good news for PRESTO users in Toronto. TTC customers will now be able to use the self-serve reload machines located in TTC subway stations to purchase a Monthly Pass. Previously, the machines simply allowed customers to load funds or check balances.

Self-serve reload machines are the smaller, green machines located at every TTC station entrance. With nearly 200 located across the TTC, this change gives customers even more ways to purchase monthly passes.

Monthly passes are also sold at fare vending machines, any Shoppers Drug Mart location in Toronto, the TTC Customer Service Centre at Davisville Station and online at prestocard.ca.

It’s never been easier to use PRESTO, or make your way seamlessly and digitally across the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.

Just ask your phone about that.
