PRESTO payment introduced on TTC Wheel-Trans sedan taxis

Customers using TTC Wheel-Trans sedan taxis can now pay their fare using PRESTO.

Jan 15, 2020

PRESTO is expanding again.

It’s now a new fare option for those who use TTC Wheel-Trans contracted sedan taxis.

As of Jan. 13, 2020, Wheel-Trans customers are no longer restricted to using just cash, TTC tickets, or tokens on Wheel-Trans contracted sedan taxis. They can use the funds or monthly pass on their PRESTO card, or one-ride, two-ride or day pass PRESTO Ticket to pay their fare.

This provides a seamless PRESTO payment experience across the TTC for Wheel-Trans customers.

PRESTO card and PRESTO Ticket customers will be able to tap every time they board a TTC Wheel-Trans contracted sedan taxi, much like customers do when they enter the subway station or hop onboard a bus or streetcar. The Wheel-Trans PRESTO device also has an audio mode feature, enabling customers with visual disabilities to listen to their PRESTO transaction out loud (using the tablet’s speaker).

TTC Wheel-Trans provides an accessible transportation option for persons with disabilities to connect them to a subway station or bus stop. Wheel-Trans vehicles include accessible buses, mini-vans, as well as contracted sedan taxis.

Customers can purchase PRESTO cards or load funds and passes in-person at any Shoppers Drug Mart location or the TTC’s customer service centre at Davisville Station, at 1900 Yonge St., as well as at self-service machines in all subway stations, online at prestocard.ca or through the accessible PRESTO app for Android or iPhone.

There are benefits to having a PRESTO card – customers can use it to travel on 10 other transit systems across the greater Toronto area and the city of Hamilton, as well as Ottawa. Customers who register their cards online can set their accounts to top up with funds when they get too low, or renew passes before they expire. By registering their card, customers can also protect their balances if their cards are lost.

Cash, TTC tickets, and tokens will continue to be accepted across the TTC, including on Wheel-Trans.
