Metrolinx continues to prioritize safety during construction
Notice those new signs at Yonge and Eglinton? Learn more about how to navigate the area safely.

While construction continues for the new Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) Line, it is important for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists to exercise caution around construction sites.
With closures to crosswalks in the Yonge and Eglinton area, Metrolinx and its constructor, Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS), have installed new signage in the area to remind pedestrians to cross only at designated crosswalks.
While a mid-block crossing might seem like the fastest way to get around, it is also extremely unsafe and can lead to serious consequences for everyone involved.
As construction of the Crosstown starts to wrap up and move off the roadway in the coming months, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings.
Traffic staging that’s been in place for some time may start to shift, and new sidewalk configurations can make it difficult to navigate an area that may have once been a routine route for some.
A reminder to all to always obey all construction signage in the area and exercise caution when navigating areas where there is active construction.
Continue to stay up to date on all the latest traffic configurations in the area by signing up for the Eglinton Crosstown newsletter here.
